description Marquez Dome Overview
Marquez Dome is a largely buried complex impact structure in Leon County, Texas. The surface expression is a roughly circular inlier of disturbed Cretaceous rocks, while geophysical and well-log studies place a crater about 13 to 15 km across beneath younger sediments and identify a strongly uplifted central zone. Its central uplift is partly exposed, but the crater rim remains buried, making seismic, gravity, magnetic, and drilling data important to its reconstruction.
