Marvel's Spider-Man was developed by Insomniac Games, the studio famous for the Ratchet & Clank series. It was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2018. The game was later remastered and released for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.

The primary antagonist of Marvel's Spider-Man is Mister Negative, a crime boss named Martin Li who can generate negative energy. However, as the story progresses, Doctor Octopus emerges as the central villain who forms the Sinister Six. The narrative explores the relationship between Peter Parker and his mentor, Otto Octavius.

While the main protagonist is Peter Parker, players do briefly take control of Mary Jane Watson in specific stealth-based missions. Additionally, the downloadable content expansions introduce Black Cat into the narrative. In the later released spin-off game, Miles Morales takes center stage as the main playable hero.

Yes, the game features a massive wardrobe of unlockable Spider-Man suits, many of which are inspired by various comic book runs and movies. Suits are unlocked by collecting backpacks and reaching certain level milestones, and each suit comes with a unique special ability. Examples include the Spider-Punk suit and the Noir suit.
