Minichess

description Minichess Overview

Minichess is a broad category of chess variants played on boards smaller than the standard eight-by-eight chessboard. Common examples use five-by-five or six-by-six boards, but rules, starting positions, piece sets, and promotion systems differ between individual variants. The reduced board size shortens games and brings opposing pieces into contact quickly. Minichess is used for recreational play, study, and computer-game design.
