Is the Mittellegi Ridge the same route as the Eiger North Face?
No. The Mittellegi is the Eiger's sharp northeast ridge, while the famous Heckmair Route crosses the much steeper North Face. The ridge is technically easier but still highly exposed and committing.
Who completed the first ascent of the Mittellegi Ridge?
Yuko Maki climbed it in 1921 with Swiss guides Fritz Amatter, Samuel Brawand and Fritz Steuri. Maki later contributed funding toward the Mittellegi Hut.
Where do climbers sleep before attempting the Mittellegi Ridge?
