description Mnajdra Overview
Mnajdra is a prehistoric megalithic temple complex located on the southern coast of Malta. Constructed between roughly 3600 and 2500 BCE, it consists of three adjacent temples built from massive blocks of coralline and globigerina limestone. The site is notably aligned with astronomical events; the rising sun illuminates specific interior stones during the spring and autumn equinoxes, as well as the solstices. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Mnajdra provides significant archaeological insight into Neolithic religious architecture in the Mediterranean.
