Moneywort

description Moneywort Overview

Moneywort usually refers to Lysimachia nummularia, a low-growing perennial plant in the primrose family, Primulaceae. Native to Europe, it has creeping stems, opposite rounded leaves, and solitary yellow flowers with five petals. The common name describes the coin-like shape of its leaves. Moneywort favors moist soils and is often grown as ground cover, but it has escaped cultivation and is regarded as invasive in some regions outside its native range.
