Mt. Head

description Mt. Head Overview

Mt. Head is a 2002 Japanese animated short film directed by Koji Yamamura and based on the traditional rakugo comic story Atama-yama. The film utilizes a surreal, sketch-like animation style to tell the story of a remarkably stingy man who swallows a cherry pit, only to have a cherry tree begin growing from the top of his head. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 75th Academy Awards.

The short is intended for audiences who appreciate traditional folklore and unconventional animation.
