Newcastle Cathedral is the Anglican Cathedral Church of St Nicholas in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and the seat of the Bishop of Newcastle. The present church is a medieval Gothic building whose most recognizable feature is its tall lantern tower and spire, a distinctive landmark in the city centre. It became a cathedral in 1882, when the Diocese of Newcastle was created.
