description Ochraceous Piculet Overview

The Ochraceous Piculet (Picumnus limae) is a small woodpecker endemic to northeastern Brazil. It occurs from Ceará south to Sergipe and inland into Piauí, using habitats within both the Caatinga and Atlantic Forest, from dry open woodland to more humid forest and some human-modified sites. Adult males have red-tipped feathers on the forehead, while females lack the red, and the species' underparts range from pale yellowish to rusty brown.
