*Oedaleus senegalensis*, commonly known as the Senegalese grasshopper, is a widespread insect species belonging to the family Acrididae. It is native to the African Sahel, North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia, thriving in semi-arid and arid environments. As a highly migratory and gregarious species, it is recognized as a major agricultural pest that forms devastating swarms, particularly following periods of drought. During these outbreaks, the swarms can cause severe defoliation to staple cereal crops like millet, sorghum, and maize, threatening regional food security.
