The Old Royal Palace is a Neoclassical building on Syntagma Square in central Athens. Designed by the Bavarian architect Friedrich von Gärtner and completed in 1843, it was constructed as the residence of King Otto and Queen Amalia and later housed other members of the Greek royal family. The building has served as the seat of the Hellenic Parliament since the 1930s and remains one of Athens's principal civic landmarks.
