What can I see through an Orion SkyQuest XT6?

Its 150 mm parabolic mirror can show lunar detail, Jupiter's major cloud belts and moons, Saturn's rings, and bright deep-sky objects such as the Orion Nebula. Galaxies and nebulae generally appear faint and mostly colorless to the eye, especially under city skies.

Does the SkyQuest XT6 track objects automatically?

The standard XT6 Classic is a manual Dobsonian with no motorized tracking or computerized GoTo system. Objects are located with the finder and kept in view by gently nudging the altitude and azimuth mount.

Why does the XT6 have a 1,200 mm focal length?

Its 150 mm aperture and 1,200 mm focal length produce an f/8 optical system. That relatively forgiving focal ratio makes collimation and inexpensive eyepieces easier to manage than on many faster Dobsonians.

Is the XT6 easier to transport than an 8-inch Dobsonian?
