OS X Mavericks was the first version of macOS to be offered for free, a move that changed the industry. It introduced Finder tabs and tags, which significantly improved file management. While it was a beloved release, it is now ancient in software terms. It is completely unsupported and insecure.
It is only suitable for archival purposes or for running vintage hardware that cannot be upgraded. It should never be used for daily computing or connected to the internet.
