description Oslofjorden Overview
Oslofjorden is a large inlet in southeastern Norway that links the Skagerrak with Oslo and the inner coastal districts. Oslo lies at its northern end, while islands, narrow passages, ports, and ferry routes occupy the waterway farther south. The fjord also has a major place in modern Norwegian history because the German cruiser Blücher was sunk near Drøbak during the German invasion of Norway in April 1940.
