description Pale prominent moth Overview
The Pale Prominent (*Pterostoma palpina*) is a moth with a wingspan of about 35-55 millimetres. At rest it is well camouflaged, but its long labial palps and tail-segment tufts give the body an elongated outline. In Britain it occurs through much of the country, is more common in the south, flies mainly from May to June with a second southern flight in August, and has larvae that feed on poplar and sallow.
