The pale tussock, Calliteara pudibunda, is a European moth in the family Erebidae that occurs in woodland, hedgerows, gardens, and scrub. Adults are generally gray with darker bands and crosslines, while the caterpillar is unusually conspicuous, usually yellow or greenish with dense hair tufts and a distinctive raised shape. Larvae feed on a range of broad-leaved trees and shrubs, including beech, oak, hazel, birch, elm, lime, and hawthorn, and the species normally overwinters as a pupa [Hants Moths](https://www.hantsmoths.org.uk/lep.php?code=72.015).
