Palmfly

description Palmfly Overview

The Palmfly is a butterfly genus belonging to the Nymphalidae family, predominantly found across South and Southeast Asia. They are recognized for their Batesian mimicry, closely resembling the wing coloration and patterns of toxic Danaid butterflies to deter predators. As their common name implies, their larvae typically feed on various species of palm plants. They inhabit forested environments and display notable sexual dimorphism, with males and females often mimicking completely different model species of toxic butterflies.
