Parodia concinna

Like most cacti native to South America, Parodia concinna requires a well-draining soil mix and should be watered thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry. During the winter dormancy period, watering should be reduced to a bare minimum or stopped entirely to prevent root rot.

Parodia concinna is a small, globular cactus that remains quite compact, making it highly suitable for indoor windowsills or small pots. It generally grows to be only a few inches tall and wide, maintaining its spherical shape throughout its life.

When in bloom, this cactus produces strikingly bright yellow flowers that typically emerge near the apex or crown of the plant. These vibrant blooms create a beautiful contrast against the plant's dense, comb-like white or golden spines.

While it enjoys bright light, Parodia concinna prefers a location with partial shade or filtered sunlight, especially during the peak afternoon hours. Too much direct, intense sun can scorch the plant and cause the vibrant green flesh to turn a stressed reddish color.
