No—pCloud Crypto uses zero-knowledge, client-side encryption, which means pCloud has no access to your encryption keys or your Crypto Folder contents. If you lose your Crypto password, there is no recovery mechanism and your encrypted files will be permanently inaccessible. This is the trade-off for the high security model, and users are strongly advised to store the password in a secure password manager.

Conceptually yes—both pCloud Crypto and Tresorit implement client-side encryption so that the provider cannot read your files—but Tresorit applies end-to-end encryption across all synced folders by default. pCloud Crypto is an opt-in add-on that only encrypts files you specifically place in the Crypto Folder, leaving the rest of your pCloud storage encrypted at rest but accessible by pCloud. This makes Tresorit more comprehensive and pCloud Crypto more selective.

You can share files from the Crypto Folder via encrypted share links, but recipients must also have the pCloud Crypto feature enabled to decrypt and view the contents. This is more restrictive than standard pCloud sharing, which allows anyone with a link to view files. The limitation is inherent to the zero-knowledge design—only someone with the key can access the encrypted data.
