description Pechora Lowland Overview
The Pechora Lowland is a broad, weakly undulating plain in the northeastern part of European Russia, within the Komi Republic and Nenets Autonomous Okrug. It lies in the Pechora River basin between the Timan Ridge and the Ural Mountains and includes poorly drained interfluves, lakes, sphagnum bogs, tundra in the north, and sparse coniferous forests farther south. The region also contains the Pechora coal basin and oil and gas resources associated with the Timan-Pechora province.
