description Pentecost Overview

Pentecost is a 2011 Irish live-action comedy short written and directed by Peter McDonald. Set in 1977, it follows a young altar boy who is suspended after causing an embarrassing mishap during Mass but is recalled when church officials need an experienced server for an important ceremony. The film treats altar service like a competitive sport while examining discipline, family expectations, and the boy's greater enthusiasm for football. It received an Academy Award nomination.
