Pilot Parallel Calligraphy Set

Instead of a traditional pointed nib, it uses two parallel plates to draw ink, allowing for sharp, consistent lines. This unique mechanism helps calligraphers create clean borders and uniform stroke widths ranging from 1.5 mm to 6.0 mm. You can even blend colors by touching the nibs of two different pens together.

The pen uses Pilot's proprietary Parallel ink cartridges, which are specially designed to flow smoothly through its flat plate nib. The standard sets come with a few mixed color cartridges to get you started right out of the box. You can also use an included converter to bottle-fill the pen.

The system offers four distinct nib widths: 1.5 mm, 2.4 mm, 3.8 mm, and 6.0 mm. The 3.8 mm and 6.0 mm sizes are generally favored for bold posters and large headers, while the smaller sizes work well for standard text. All four sizes can be purchased individually or as a complete set.

While you technically can write normally with them, their flat, wide nibs are designed to be held at a specific angle for calligraphy. Attempting standard cursive or rapid note-taking will likely result in scratchy feedback and uneven lines. They are best reserved for dedicated lettering practice and artwork.
