description Piscis Austrinus Overview

Piscis Austrinus, Latin for the "Southern Fish," is a constellation in the southern celestial hemisphere that was cataloged by the astronomer Ptolemy in the 2nd century. It is visually distinguished by Fomalhaut, a first-magnitude star that ranks among the brightest in the night sky. The constellation is often depicted as a fish drinking the water poured from the urn of the neighboring constellation, Aquarius. It is most readily observable from the Southern Hemisphere during the autumn months.
