description Plum fruit moth Overview
The plum fruit moth (Cydia funebrana) is a tortricid moth whose larvae, known as red plum maggots, feed inside developing plums and other stone fruits, causing fruit to ripen prematurely and drop. Distributed across Europe and much of Asia, it is a principal pest of plum orchards, and growers commonly monitor it with sex-pheromone traps in order to time control measures against egg-laying.
