help RadioMaster TX12 Radio Controller FAQ

Can I use the RadioMaster TX12 with my DJI drone?

The RadioMaster TX12 is an RC radio designed primarily for RC airplanes, cars, and drones running open-source firmware like EdgeTX or OpenTX. To use it with a DJI drone, the drone would need an aftermarket receiver that supports crossfire or similar protocols, as DJI's standard consumer drones use proprietary controllers. However, it is highly popular among long-range FPV drone pilots who build their own quads.

What is the difference between the TX12 MK2 and the original TX12?

The newer TX12 MK2 replaced the older T-Lite style sliders and added four traditional potentiometer sliders. It also features an upgraded AG01 gimbal set, offering much higher precision and smoothness than the original version. Furthermore, the MK2 comes with an internal CC2500 multi-protocol module standard.

What kind of batteries does the RadioMaster TX12 use?

The controller is equipped with an internal 2S 18650 battery tray, meaning it runs on two standard 18650 lithium-ion cells. You can easily remove and charge these cells externally, or charge them directly inside the remote using a USB-C cable. This is a highly favored feature because 18650 batteries are cheap and offer excellent battery life.

Does the RadioMaster TX12 come with EdgeTX installed?

Yes, modern units of the TX12 ship with EdgeTX installed as the default operating system. EdgeTX is the highly customizable, open-source successor to OpenTX, giving users complete control over switches, mixes, and telemetry. If you buy an older used model, it may have OpenTX, but you can easily flash it to EdgeTX.
