Yes, Ray & Liz is an autobiographical docudrama directed by British photographer Richard Billingham. It vividly recreates his own childhood growing up in a council flat in the Black Country during the 1970s and 1980s.

The 2018 film is a cinematic adaptation of Richard Billingham's acclaimed 1996 photobook titled Ray's a Laugh. Both the book and the film document the extreme poverty and complex family dynamics of his parents, Ray and Liz.

The adult Ray and Liz are portrayed by actors Justin Salinger and Ella Smith. The film also features Deirdre Kelly and Richard Gadd in supporting roles to round out the cast.

Ray & Liz was nominated for the Best Debut Director award at the British Independent Film Awards in 2018. It was also highly praised on the festival circuit for its stark, unflinching portrayal of addiction and poverty.
