Raymond Cattell

Raymond Cattell was a British-American psychologist known for applying factor analysis to the study of personality, intelligence, and motivation. He proposed sixteen primary personality factors and developed the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire, commonly called the 16PF, to measure them. Cattell also distinguished between fluid intelligence, used in novel problem solving, and crystallized intelligence, which reflects acquired knowledge and experience.
