The Red-stained Woodpecker, Veniliornis affinis, is a small South American woodpecker in the family Picidae. It is recorded from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, where it occurs in forest and other wooded habitats. The species belongs to the genus Veniliornis and is recognized by reddish markings or staining in otherwise darker brown and olive plumage. It is distinct from the Blood-colored Woodpecker, Veniliornis sanguineus, which has a different range and much more extensive red coloration.
