Return to Ommadawn

description Return to Ommadawn Overview

Return to Ommadawn is a studio album by British multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield, released in 2017 as a direct sequel to his 1975 record, Ommadawn. The album continues the stylistic traditions of the original by featuring two extended, multi-part instrumental suites that weave together Celtic folk influences, progressive rock structures, and ambient textures. Oldfield performs the vast majority of the instruments himself, utilizing traditional acoustic guitars, mandolins, and layered vocalizations. It appeals directly to longtime fans of his early conceptual works.
