description RMS Rhone Overview

RMS Rhone was a British Royal Mail steamship that sank near Salt Island in the British Virgin Islands during a hurricane in October 1867. Driven onto rocks while attempting to escape the storm, the vessel broke apart and went down with heavy loss of life. Its remains lie in relatively accessible Caribbean water and form a well-known recreational dive site, with recognizable sections including the bow, boilers, and propeller.
