description Santa Clara County Courthouse Overview

Santa Clara County Courthouse is the historic Old Courthouse at 161 North First Street in downtown San Jose, one of the facilities of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara. Designed by Levi I. Goodrich, the Renaissance Revival building with a Neo-Classical facade was begun in 1866 and completed in 1868; its original copper-covered dome was removed after a major fire and later reconstruction. The restored building remains associated with county court operations and stands across from St.

James Park.
