help Seagate Backup Plus Slim FAQ

Is the Seagate Backup Plus Slim an SSD or a hard drive?

The Backup Plus Slim is a portable hard disk drive, not an SSD. Seagate's support page lists Slim variants such as 500 GB and 1 TB models using USB 3.0.

Can I use the Backup Plus Slim with both Windows and Mac?

Yes, but the exact setup depends on its file-system format. Seagate documents using an NTFS driver on Mac to share the drive between Windows and macOS without reformatting.

Does it back up files automatically?

The drive itself is storage, while Seagate Toolkit provides automatic backup and scheduled backup tools on supported systems. You still need to install and configure the software because plugging in the drive alone does not create a backup plan.

Is the Backup Plus Slim fast enough for video editing?

Its USB 3.0 connection is suitable for photos, documents, and ordinary backup jobs, but it is slower than a modern USB-C SSD for editing large video files. The slim enclosure and roughly 159-gram weight are aimed at portability and backup convenience.
