Sentinel-1B was a European Space Agency (ESA) Earth observation satellite launched in April 2016 as part of the Copernicus Programme. Operating in a polar orbit, it was equipped with a C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to provide continuous, all-weather day-and-night imagery of the Earth's surface. The mission supported various applications, including Arctic sea-ice monitoring, maritime surveillance, and disaster response. The satellite suffered a critical power anomaly in late 2021, permanently ending the mission before its planned decommissioning date.
