description Sh2-311 Overview

Sh2-311 is a large emission nebula and H II region in the constellation Puppis, also identified with NGC 2467. Its glowing gas is ionized by young, hot stars, and the surrounding complex contains active star formation, dark dust structures, and the young stellar groups Haffner 18 and Haffner 19. Infrared observations, including work with the Spitzer Space Telescope, have revealed embedded young stellar objects within the region.
