Xanthorhoe montanata, known as the Silver-ground Carpet, is a moth in the family Geometridae and a common species in Britain. Its most consistent identifying feature is a whitish ground color, while the depth of the darker wing markings varies between individuals. Adults are active mainly from May into July, occur around woodland clearings and low vegetation, and have larvae that feed on plants such as bedstraw.
