Slimy Spike Cap

description Slimy Spike Cap Overview

The slimy spike cap (*Gomphidius glutinosus*) is a mushroom associated mainly with coniferous woodland in Europe and North America. Its gray to brown cap is covered by a conspicuous sticky, gelatinous layer, and its pale gills become darker as the spores mature. The gills are decurrent, extending down the stem.
