Smooth Yellow Violet

description Smooth Yellow Violet Overview

Smooth yellow violet is a North American woodland violet often treated as Viola pubescens var. eriocarpa, although some botanical authorities recognize it separately as Viola eriocarpa. It produces yellow spring flowers marked with dark veins and grows in rich deciduous woods and shaded slopes. Compared with the typical downy yellow violet, its stems and leaves are generally less hairy, which accounts for the common name.
