description Sobieski Hours Overview

The Sobieski Hours is an illuminated Book of Hours produced in the southern Netherlands during the early fifteenth century. It contains the prayers and devotional texts used by lay Christians at prescribed hours of the day, accompanied by elaborate painted decoration. The manuscript later belonged to John III Sobieski, king of Poland, and is now part of the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
