Spot-tail shark

description Spot-tail shark Overview

The spot-tail shark, Carcharhinus sorrah, is a requiem shark in the family Carcharhinidae. It is a medium-sized whaler found through the tropical Indo-West Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Philippines, China, Australia, and nearby island groups, and it usually occupies shallow continental or insular shelves. A dark mark on the lower caudal fin, together with markings on the fins, helps distinguish it from related blacktip sharks.
