Steelcase Cube Stackable File Module

The Steelcase Cube module is designed for standard letter and legal-size hanging file folders used in North American offices. The drawer interior is dimensioned to accept standard hanging folder rails. Depending on orientation, the module can be configured for lateral or vertical filing.

Steelcase recommends stacking no more than three Cube modules high using the included interlocking brackets for stability. The brackets physically lock each unit to the one below it to prevent separation or tipping. Exceeding the recommended stack height risks instability, particularly on carpeted or uneven floors.

Some Steelcase Cube configurations include an optional core lock on the drawer, but the base module does not always ship with one. Locking capability depends on the specific SKU and options selected at purchase. Aftermarket lock kits compatible with Steelcase drawer systems are sometimes available through office furniture dealers.

The Steelcase Cube is designed with a compact footprint intended to fit under most standard desk heights of approximately 29 to 30 inches. Each single-drawer module is shorter than a traditional two- or three-drawer file cabinet, which is why the stacking system exists for expanding capacity. Verify the specific module's height against your desk clearance before purchasing.
