Stephen Sprouse was an American fashion designer and artist who rose to prominence in the 1980s, celebrated for his pioneering work in punk-influenced streetwear. He was famous for integrating high fashion with downtown New York club culture, utilizing Day-Glo colors, and spray-painting techniques. His designs famously blended luxury materials with a raw, rock-and-roll aesthetic.

Stephen Sprouse famously collaborated with the luxury house Louis Vuitton in 2001, creating a highly sought-after collection featuring graffiti-printed monogram bags. He was one of the first contemporary artists to design for the brand under Marc Jacobs' direction, paving the way for future collaborations with artists like Takashi Murakami. The collection was a massive commercial success and remains iconic in fashion history.

Sprouse's designs were a massive hit with prominent celebrities and musicians, defining the style of the 1980s New York elite. Icons like Debbie Harry of Blondie, Madonna, and Iggy Pop were frequently seen wearing his clothes.
