Sukhoi Su-49

description Sukhoi Su-49 Overview

The Sukhoi Su-49 was a Russian piston-engine primary trainer aircraft designed to succeed the Yakovlev Yak-52. Derived from the aerobatic Su-26 family of monoplanes, the Su-49 was intended to be utilized by the Russian Air Force for initial pilot instruction and basic aerobatic training. The aircraft was explicitly developed to comply with the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) requirements for advanced aerobatic competition. Ultimately, only a single prototype was constructed and it did not enter serial production or active service.
