Tall buttercup, Ranunculus acris, is a perennial herb native to Europe and parts of Asia and naturalized in many other regions, including North America. It commonly grows in meadows, pastures, roadsides, and other open habitats. The plant has erect branching stems and glossy, five-petaled yellow flowers. Fresh plants contain irritant compounds and may be harmful to livestock when eaten in substantial quantities.
