Tansy

description Tansy Overview

Tansy usually refers to Tanacetum vulgare, a strongly aromatic perennial herb in the daisy family, Asteraceae. It is native to Europe and parts of Asia and has finely divided leaves and flat-topped clusters of small yellow flower heads. The plant has been introduced in other regions, where it can persist along roadsides and disturbed ground. Its foliage and flowers have historical uses as an insect repellent and in traditional medicine, but the plant contains compounds that can be toxic in sufficient amounts.
