The Advocate, released as The Hour of the Pig in some markets, is a 1993 British-French historical drama with comic elements directed by Leslie Megahey. Colin Firth plays Richard Courtois, a young lawyer sent from Paris to a rural French community in the late Middle Ages. The story draws on medieval animal trials when Courtois is asked to defend a pig accused of killing a child.
