description The Black Keys - Thickfreakness Overview

Thickfreakness is the second studio album by The Black Keys, the Akron, Ohio-based blues rock duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, released in April 2003. The album was recorded over a very short period at the band's own recording setup and is characterized by its raw, lo-fi production, distorted guitar tones, and stripped-down two-piece blues rock sound drawing heavily on Mississippi hill country blues and Junior Kimbrough influences. It was released on the independent Fat Possum label and helped establish The Black Keys' reputation in the underground rock scene before their later mainstream breakthrough. Several tracks from the album became staples of the band's early live sets.
