description The Black Tower Overview

The Black Tower is a 1975 detective novel by P. D. James and part of the series featuring Scotland Yard commander and poet Adam Dalgliesh. While recovering from a serious illness, Dalgliesh visits a residential institution for disabled people on the Dorset coast and becomes troubled by deaths surrounding the community.

The novel combines a closed-circle investigation with themes of illness, isolation, faith, and institutional dependence.
