The Dalmore 18 Year Old

The Dalmore 18 is matured in ex-sherry casks sourced through the distillery's exclusive partnership with González Byass, the renowned Jerez bodega. This relationship gives The Dalmore access to casks that previously held aged sherries such as Matusalem oloroso, contributing the whisky's signature dark chocolate and dried fruit notes.

Expect rich notes of dark chocolate, dried fruit, warm spice, and orange zest, all hallmarks of The Dalmore's sheried house style developed at the distillery in Alness in the Northern Highlands. The 18 years of maturation give it a deeper, more dessert-like complexity than the younger 12 and 15 Year Old expressions.

The Dalmore is distilled at the distillery in Alness, overlooking the Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery has been producing whisky on that site since 1839 and is recognizable by the royal stag's head emblem on every bottle, a reference to the Mackenzie clan's hunting preserve.

The Dalmore uses a multi-cask approach across its range, including American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and exclusive González Byass sherry butts that previously held Matusalem, Apostoles, and Amoroso sherries. The 18 Year Old specifically emphasizes the sherry-influenced side of this program, while expressions like the King Alexander III combine a wider variety of cask types.
