The Elementary School, directed by Jan Svěrák and written by Zdeněk Svěrák, is a 1991 Czechoslovak film exploring themes within an elementary school setting. It received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and is recognized as one of the most significant films from Czechoslovakia. A sequel, Barefoot, was released in 2017.
