The Port Huron Statement is a political manifesto adopted in June 1962 at a Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) convention in Port Huron, Michigan. Its primary author was Tom Hayden, then a University of Michigan student. The document called for participatory democracy, civil rights, nuclear disarmament, and university reform, and became a foundational text of the 1960s American New Left.
